Verbatae
Questions

Before you ask.

Does it write anything of its own?

No. Every result is the documents’ exact words, with the file and page each came from. Search matches meaning and wording together, so a quoted phrase and a loose question both work. Linking a language model of your own is optional and off by default; its output is shown separately from your documents’ text, and is yours to check. Verbatae doesn’t interpret. It confirms and recites.

Does any data leave my computer?

Not unless you set it up to. There is no account, telemetry or cloud. Only an outside timestamp address or an outside model address can reach out, and only if you set one. Privacy and security →

What files does it read?

PDFs, including scanned ones; Word, Excel and PowerPoint; page images such as PNG, JPEG and TIFF; plain text, notes, logs and CSV; web pages and e-books; and email, including Outlook .msg files. Not yet: older .xls and .ppt files, and Outlook .pst archives. Anything it can’t read is listed as skipped, never silently dropped.

Does “no results” mean it isn’t there?

It means nothing readable matched. Verbatae lists what it could search and what it couldn’t, so you can see the difference.

Where is my case kept?

In the folder chosen at setup (by default Verbatae, in Documents), under the case name. Your files stay where they are.

Can it run on a computer we already have?

Often, yes. Any Mac with an M1 chip or newer and macOS 14, or a 64-bit Windows 11 PC, meets the minimum. A dedicated machine keeps your case files on one controlled computer and gives the best speed, so that’s what we recommend. Machines →

What does it cost?

A 60-day demo with unlimited use is $2,500, credited in full toward a $6,000 version license per computer. If you don’t buy, you owe nothing further. Pricing and demo →
